After more than 50 years of continuous publication, the Earthmover & Civil Contractor is to close its doors.
Announcing the closure, publisher of EMCC, Peter Attwater, said the decision to cease publication was both difficult and extremely disappointing.
“During the latter part of 2016, we sought to sell the magazine to other parties but in the current environment we were ultimately unsuccessful,” he said.
“Trade publications, most of which rely on print advertising for survival, have been under tremendous pressure for several years – many of our competitors have long shut down in the face of challenges from a shift in traditional print advertising and servicing a market sector which has itself been subject to more troughs than peaks in recent times,” Mr Attwater said.
Mr Attwater paid tribute to many staff who have worked on the magazine over a long period of time.
“In particular, I would like to acknowledge the dedication of our National Sales Manager, Michelle McDougall, who has been the cornerstone of the magazine for more than a decade,” he said.
“I would also like to thank our subscribers and advertisers, many of whom have been supporting EMCC for several decades, our many specialist writers who have commented on and dissected items of national interest for the wider civil contracting industry and also the Civil Contractors Federation which has been our partner for more than 20 years,” he added.
