South African manufacturer Bell showed a pre-production 60t B60E dump truck at bauma that combines the best features of rigid and articulated dump trucks.
The B60E, which is scheduled to go into production in 2007, is articulated but has only two axles (both of which are driven) and a wide dump body similar to a rigid dump truck.
The articulation and oscillation joint ensures that all wheels maintain contact with the ground for good traction. The rear axle is a dedicated 70t truck and haulage axle from German manufacturer Kessler. The rear chassis and suspension are distinctly different from an ADT concept, with a cradle supporting the rear axle with struts to create shock absorption for a more controlled ride.
